The Flames of Fate
Rachel Hess Wachman, class of 2020
The rain mingles with the salty tears on her cheeks. A sob escapes her throat as she turns away from the blaze. The house is alight, the conflagration crackling and hissing. Walls crash together; windows shatter; the house collapses on itself, crushing her dreams with a final boom. Then, silence.

Frozen
Maya Aidlin-Perlman, class of 2020
I am frozen. Regret rushes through my body like a tsunami without warning. As her eyes open for the final time, panic grasps me by the throat, paralyzing me. The mangled car, my best friend in my arms, and the smell of beer on her breath will haunt me forever.
